Bespoke hair systems produce a perfect replication of an individual’s scalp. Out latest hair replacement technology with regards to scalp replication involves producing a mould using a plastic derivative which is shaped to create a template of the wearers head, thus allowing the bespoke hair system to be created to fir exactly. The moulds are non-intrusive. The plastic sheet is heated to a malleable state, and then used to create an impression of the area where the hair needs to be replaced. The plastic takes on the contours of a person’s head perfectly, allowing a hair system to be built specifically around each person. This ensures that the hair piece is comfortable and sits naturally atop a person’s head.
Before these plastic moulds were available cling film moulds had to be taken. This was a far longer procedure (and a far messier one to) with less precise results, so this advancement in hair replacement technology is hugely advantageous in producing bespoke hair systems that fit the wearer perfectly.
Advancement in hair replacement technology continues to push the barriers of membrane design in hair pieces. There is an ever widening selection of materials to be used in the formation of hair system bases. Where once choice was limited, now each individual can select the material most suited to them. Transparent and lightweight materials which enable scalp visibility, which traditionally wasn't possible with hair pieces. Lace, silicone, polyurethane or polygauze are the most commonly used materials. These bases are hypoallergenic, meaning that they are far less likely to cause allergic reactions in the wearers. Since hair systems are worn in close contact with the sensitive skin of the wearers scalp, this is a very important development in hair replacement technology.
The hair can be attached to the hair system's base via a number of different techniques. Hair knotting has been shown to provide the most aesthetically pleasing results (single-hair, single-knotted hair pieces look extremely natural, as well as durable performance. The tiny, undetectable knots are extremely strong, so the hair system lasts. Hair knotting is a labour intensive hand skill whereby hairs are tied to the base of the hair piece. The London Hair Clinic also use hair injection, which is a much newer development in hair replacement technology with regards to hair attachment whereby the hairs are inserted through the polyurethane layer before being sealed with a layer of liquid polyurethane, trapping the hair between the two transparent layers. This method ensures that the hair piece is undetectable, as it gives the appearance of hair growing from the head.
Both single knotting and hair injection provide totally undetectable results with scalp visibility to ensure that the hair system looks entirely natural.
Synthetic hair has become more and more natural in appearance and texture, so where once it was unthinkable that a synthetic hair piece could ever be mistaken for natural hair, it is now possible to create a synthetic hair system that rivals real human hair in appearance. The two best synthetic hair fibres are Cyber hair and Kanekalon. Both materials replicate human hair both in look and texture, and both materials are highly durable.
